INTRODUCTION
Hi, my name is Irfane Moussa, and I’m from Reunion Island (France). My journey into 3D began in 2014 with Blender as a hobby, but for the past year, I've been specializing. I love modeling, texturing, and rendering realistic scenes.
INSPIRATION
I love pastry! In France, one of the best pastry chefs is Philippe Conticini. He has a talent for playing with different textures to make his desserts even tastier. I couldn't have asked for a better dessert inspiration than the photos by the chef himself!
MODELING
I started with a slice of custard, which is easy to model. From a cone, you can easily get to a slice of cake.
The important thing is to differentiate between the various textures in our reference images (here four in total).
SCULPTING
This time, it was a case of softening the contours and adding imperfections.
TEXTURING
Everything was procedural. I started with the displacements to find the different layers of the flan.
Then I added the colors, mixing with another shader for the vanilla seeds.
Another important step is the Subsurface Scattering, which adds a great deal of realism.
LIGHTING
I chose an HDRI to have light at every angle in the scene, always for greater realism.
FINAL SETTINGS
I added some simulation particles, especially for the sugar and the crumbs. I also modeled a spoon, a plate, and a cloth for the background.
The camera angle is also important, so I adjusted the focus and focal length. Well that was it, below are the final renders!
