Sign of the Juggernaught

juggernaughtDmancrosse has posted a very cool picture called 'Sign of the Juggernaught'. It is one of those images that you can stare at for a while, trying to discover new things and wondering about the story behind it.

almost all of the final comp was put together in PS. blender was crashing on me almost nonstop at the end. if i tried to open certain layers or render objects parented to paths then i got one of those polite, but annoying 'sorry blender unexpectedly...' messages. i ended up having to seperate my work into 3 .blend files to have access to my pieces. kind of a drag, but it all turned out.

fun stuff: the robot at the time of render had over 980.000 verts. each tree, with use of awsome new particals, had about 50.000 verts apiece. i had a combined render time of 3.5 hours for all trees and robot passes.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
