INTRODUCTION
Greetings, everyone!
I'm Giorgi Kirtadze, a freelance 3D artist from Georgia. Currently, I have a pretty small background in 3D, as I'm still in the learning process. However, I'm eager to expand my skills in the future. A big part of my knowledge comes from the "GARNAMATAC" T4L course, and I mainly practice by working on small scenes.
INSPIRATION
The idea behind this project was simple.
I wanted to practice modeling and texturing for myself, so I chose an old vintage phone as my subject. After completing the phone, I decided to create a little scene around it because, why not?
MODELING
The modeling process was pretty simple and fun. It involved tasks like extruding, scaling, moving vertices, and adding subdivision for the final touches.
I didn't worry too much about topology since everything was made for a still image with procedural textures. I used PBR textures from Polyhaven on the table and background wall.
For the sunflower seeds, I modeled 3-4 versions of them and made copies. Then, I used Blender's rigid body simulation to place them in the "Bowl". I then deleted the ones that weren't visible to the camera.
The phone wire was made by adding a circle and using the "Screw" modifier first, followed by the array on the curve modifier. After getting the form I needed, I applied the modifiers to properly use procedural textures to it.
SHADING
First, I shaded the phone and then used the same material on almost all the other objects, making slight tweaks. I also used some useful tricks that I learned from one of Kaizen tutorial's videos about shading.

I added procedural scratches and dust for extra little details (although they may not be visible in the final image, I know they are there). I used a noise texture for bump mapping and added scratches in the bump as well.

I also added volume to create an extra scenic effect (I simply liked it, nothing too special).
LIGHTING
I used IES Lighting for the light coming from the ceiling (behind the phone).
Additionally, I used one "main" point light to illuminate most of the scene from the left.
And, three area lights with low power to highlight some of the areas of objects a little bit.
All in all, nothing special. It was a pretty simple scene that was good for a little "workout."
RENDER - Vintage Phone Scene
Here are other variations and styles that I had for this scene.
