This underwater scene was one of the funniest scenes to work on from this explainer animation project. Dressing our hero character up in different situations is always a blast, but this was one of my favorites.
The challenge in this project was creating a convincing underwater scene fitting for the animation style. While keeping in mind the budget. (Time and Cost)
So that asks the artist to be creative and smart about it. I think we did that when using compositing tricks to quote-unquote fake expensive effects, like caustics and volumetric lighting.
Blender can handle those extremely well, but sometimes during a project, you need to consider other things too.
All the little additions stacked on top of one other make this a lively underwater scene.
Would we have done things differently sure, in hindsight that's always easy to say

Cool breakdown, well explained too
Thank you! I always worry about my presentation, so this is much appreciated
Your simple art style is really neat :)
Hey, quick question: I'm starting a series on YouTube to talk about simple-style art (like low poly.)
Would you be up for an interview?
Sounds great!
I like to hear more about it, maybe you can contact me via Instagram (@mv.artz ) or [email protected].
So we could talk a little more
