Blender 3.0 gets USD Import!

0

The official release of Blender 3.0 is still months away, but it's already shaping up to be one worthy of its landmark numerical shift. The latest development milestone is the addition of USD import support, courtesy of Michael Kowalski from Nvidia.

The USD exporter had already made its way into Blender 2.82, and this latest addition brings USD support to both ends of the pipeline, a boon for interoperability. Full USD support is still a work in progress, and you can check in on Blender's USD project via this link. Pablo Vazquez uploaded a quick video on Blender's Youtube channel showcasing the ability to export and import USD with Blender.

This patch has made its way into the master branch, so you can download the latest Blender 3.0 daily build and test it out for yourself!
