The latest video for Snakes Of Russia’s new single Summoner has finally released. The video was directed by Kays Al-Atrakchi and features fantastic imagery of the protagonist played by actor Daniel Nelson wandering through the empty streets of a metropolis. After riding a subway train, he finds himself in the desert where he discovers the origin of his visions and comes face to face with Snakes of Russia.
The video, which was filmed by cinematographer Curtis Davis in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas, utilized Blender extensively to create the mysterious floating jellyfish, as well as other CG elements seen in the video. Blender's camera motion tracking capabilities were also used to create accurate camera tracking which was then exported to Adobe AfterEffects.
The jellyfish were created using a procedural Geometry Nodes set up created by Blender Artist Albin Merle. The GeoNode network allowed for a great degree of customization of the jellyfish, including their flying path, and the number of tentacles and detail.
The final sequence of the video takes place in a massive temple in the desert. The exteriors and interior environments were created by combining video elements shot against green screen against CG elements directly in Blender. The end result achieves a realistic and natural blend of the real video and the CG backgrounds.
The Blender elements were rendered in Cycles as EXR image sequences which were then further processed in Adobe AfterEffects, and graded in Blackmagic Design Resolve.
The finished video can be seen in its entirety at the following link:
