Paul Hotston is principal of Phorm architecture + design. Phorm is a studio-based fraternity, operating above and below the tropic line. The practice is experienced in small to medium scale residential, multi-residential and remote micro-resort projects.Since it's inception in 2000, the practice has focused on developing a 'duality'within the practice profile by maintaining a balance of projects between thesouth-east corner and regional queensland. An underpinning strategy for most project-work is the initial mapping of the broader physical and cultural landscapes. These investigations often synthesize into the key determinants of plan, spatial pattern and built form in aresponsive 'mediation' of habitation and place.
The Practice aligns with thenotion of 'phorm finding as opposed phorm making'.In 2007,Lilliesmere lagoonwon the RAIA 'House of the Year' for NQ.The practice is featured in the pending exhibition “Place Makers: Contemporary Queensland Architects” curated by GOMA. www.qag.qld.gov.au/placemakers
