Senior Exhibition Designer Andy Warhol @ GOMA

Michael started as Senior Exhibition Designer with the Queensland Art Gallery in 2005. He leads a team of designers responsible for the design of exhibitions and displays in the Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art. In what has been a relatively busy time for the Queensland Art Gallery recently, with the opening of a new building and the appointment of a new director, Michael has played a key role in the design of the inaugural hangs in GoMA, the 5th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art and most recently Andy Warhol.

Michael’s professional background is in interior design. He studied at QUT and has worked previously for architects and interior design consultancies on a range of projects from commercial office fitouts to multi-residential projects.

In addition to the exhibition design team, the Queensland Art Gallery employs teams of graphic designers, tradespeople, lighting technicians and art installers that work along side the curators to create exhibitions. Currently Michael and the exhibition design team are hard at work on the 2008 program which includes ‘Picasso & His Collection’ and ‘Place Makers – Contemporary Queensland Architects.’
