Chris photographs Brisbane performance, music and art scenes. When working in his studio at home in Carina you would be sitting in a classic 1950's designer chair (one of a collection), sipping on an espresso with fresh cake, while chatting with partner Susan (his other obsession).
The passion for documenting aspects of the Brisbane music scene began at 'The Sitting Duck Cafe' (West End) and the early 'Women in Voice' shows. "I was hooked by Christine Johnston and her amazing creations, both visual and vocal!”
Screen printing, photography and painting have all been elements of further artwork and exhibitions. The stylistic influences are the Pop Art Era, from Andy Warhol through to David Hockney.
Chris' promotional and publicity photographs have appeared in everything from The Australian and The Courier Mail, to Brisbane News and the Woodford Folk Festival programs. A major solo photographic exhibition ‘Face the Music’, a portrait series of Queensland Composers, was completed for the Queensland Music Festival in 2005.
Combining his interests in art, design and photography he recently self published ‘Brisbane Modern’ mid 20th century design magazine. Providing a unique local perspective into the world of design and celebrating the diversity of ideas in post-war Brisbane.
