Nic Plowman was born in 1978 in Brisbane.
In 2000 he graduated from the University of Southern Queensland with a Bachelor of Visual Arts where he subsequently was employed as a Studio Assistant in Painting and Drawing. Nic was an awardee of the USQ Parvis Nikdin Prize and his work was acquired for the University’s Collection.
Nic has worked as an art educator for many years, teaching aspiring artists from children and teenagers through to adults. To date he has had four solo shows, been included in many selected group exhibitions and is held in a number of noted public and private collections. In 2006, Nic was again selected as a Finalist in The Brett Whiteley Travelling Art Scholarship.
Driven by an edgy quality of line, his vision is an amalgam of abstraction and representation, a play between what imagined and dreamt versus what is real and exists. He believes “art is simply, a filtered reflection of the realities that inspire one to react and describe an experience, in order to share with and infect others by its existence.”
Nic's studio is located upstairs at Jugglers Art Space in Brisbane's cultural precinct, Fortitude Valley.
His new show;
magic. sex. death.
Opens Friday the 4th of April at Jugglers Artspace Inc. 103 Brunswick street, Fortitude Valley.
