Paul Jones is a Director and the CEO of Brisbane based architectural practice, Donovan Hill. Like many respected architects, he has established his seniority by being a consummate generalist rather than a specialist. His role entails the stewardship of the firm’s business performance, professional operation, the dynamics of 35 staff and the many collaborative processes that characterise Donovan Hill’s activity.

Because the practice remains studio based, Paul is critically involved in both design authorship and its carriage to realisation; he is currently directing work on the 36 storey Northbridge office building under construction in Turbot Street.

Paul’s prior work has taken him from New Zealand to North Queensland and has included residential buildings, university facilities, small art galleries and research buildings – more examples of which are currently in a studio phase.

Part of his all-rounder scope last year included a study tour of recent public and commercial buildings in Northern Europe. His Pecha Kucha slot will be a recount of paradox, comparing some exceptional European building types with typical local examples. i.e. what it is that Australians will agree is wonderful when on tour with what Australians live with here at home.
