the stitchery is a community of young women inspired by the potential of clothes and creative making as a way to develop and maintain joyous connections with people. It was founded in February 2010 by Kath Horton and Paula Dunlop, and is based in Brisbane, Australia.

We connect the unlikely bedfellows of fashion and social welfare in order to facilitate meaningful exchanges between individuals and communities. Working against popular opinion, we believe that fashion can be mobilised as a force for good in the world. Our vision is to use fashion and clothes-making as a platform for community engagement through workshops, skill sharing and social development.
