Andrea achieved a Degree in Visual Art major in photography from the Queensland College of Art in 1988 and has enrolled this year in QCA’s MVA postgraduate course. After working in Sydney assisting well-known fashion photographers she travelled to the United Kingdom where she worked for London based antique dealer Charles Edwards.
Since returning to Brisbane from the UK Andrea Higgins has been an active participant in both the contemporary art and craft industries.
Andrea and five other Queensland photographic artists established the Queensland Centre of Photography and she was an active board member for a three-year period. She exhibits her own photographic artwork regularly both in public and private galleries.
Andrea worked for the Gallery Store at the Queensland Art Gallery this resulted in extending her contact and knowledge of contemporary artists and craft and design practitioners.

Artisan formerly Craft Queensland engaged Andrea in May 2004 as the Retail Manager of the CQstore and now works as the Sector Development Manager. Over the past 2 years she has also curated and managed the very successful Pattern Recognition, Botanica, Pathways and 50 Brooches exhibition.
