Kathryn is a visual artist who explores the space between the macro and micro, global and local, using age-old motifs such as the tree-of-life. The contemporary stage is a plethora of simultaneously close and far, spatial and temporal distances which exist between the local and global. Kathryn is passionate about art’s potential, as a catalytic agent, to inspire agenda-less but not directionless conversations which may provide clues about the dance steps needed to negotiate this contemporary stage.

Kathryn has an extensive exhibition history in S.E Queensland and in recent years has exhibited in Dubai, London, Abu Dhabi and Seoul. She has a B.A majoring in Art History from the University of Queensland. Upon graduation she worked at the Australian National Gallery in Canberra and subsequently in regional galleries in S.E Queensland.

Kathryn’s experiences exhibiting in the Middle East and the conversations she had with people from all over the region have compelled her to think and speak more about the rich potential of conversation inspired by art and the resultant perspectives which are revealed. She is particularly interested in the power of archetypal symbols and the collapsing of notions of difference.
