Elizabeth Watson Brown Architects is an architectural design studio of 12 based in inner Brisbane. Elizabeth Watson Brown initiated the practice in Brisbane in 1990.
We exist in a benign butincreasingly challenging context – our subtropical climate, fragile ecology, complex community, exponentially increasing population, and
valuable original buildings.
Any consideration of appropriate design for our city in the subtropics must be underpinned by an understanding that subtropical design is not only about climate and ecological sustainability, but also culture - about the complex interweaving of all of those elements making up our “place”.
Our multi award winning practice is dedicated to creating appropriate, thoughtful, sustainable and beautiful environments for individuals, organizations and communities. Projects range from the small - unique residences, to the medium scale - community buildings and multi- residential developments, to collaborative involvement in larger projects such as master planning communities and educational facilities. In recent years EWB architects has also been involved in international projects and research.
