Richard Kirk established the practice in 1995 after graduating from the University of Queensland in 1991 with first class honours, the Board of Architects Prize, the QIA memorial prize and the Thesis Prize.

His design intensive practice has won numerous professional awards including the Queensland Royal Australian Institute of Architects Beatrice Hutton Award for Commercial Architecture in 2004 for the Cutting Edge building in West End.

The work of the practice has been selected as one of a group of emerging Australian architectural practices for the publication “Next Wave: Emerging Talents in Australian Architecture” by Davina Jackson. The practice enjoys working on a diverse range of projects and the culmination of this experience is represented in the recently completed University of Queensland General Purpose North 4 Building.
Richard Kirk has established his practice as a leader in designing quality architectural outcomes for complex buildings and sites and this has resulted in the recent commission for the new Australian Broadcasting Commission Brisbane Headquarters. Richard is a Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects, a Chapter Councillor and Chair of the Practice Committee of the RAIA.
