Nick Smethurst is a 22 year old Creative Industries participant residing in Brisbane. He plays or has played in bands such as Epithets, Carry Nation, Lion Island, Mr Maps, Let's Not (but say we did) and others.

He was the musical director of the 2006 Straight Out Of Brisbane festival, as well as operating the 610 Ann Street venue for two year, and now works in freelance bookings and promotion.

Nick has responded to the changing dynamic of the record industry by founding In Finland Records, a vinyl-and-download concern, established with a focus on quality control and exposure for new artists.

He has thus far refused to compromise his relatively radical ideals about the music industry, choosing to work only on projects that align with his stances, even when it means long years in the corporate sphere in order to stay financially viable. He dreams of seeing Tom Waits live
