Textile Designer

KT Doyle received a Brisbane City Council Creative Sparks Grant in 2008 to create an innovative range of sustainable textiles and wallpaper, which sits at the intersection of art, craft and design.

Over the past twenty years, KT has travelled widely researching textile and decorative arts collections in Australia and Europe, along with the notion of the contemporary nomad. The basis for her work is conceptual, evolving the physical execution of ‘the idea’ in the most appropriate media.

KT's work is about 'belonging' and our collective ability to make a sense of place for ourselves in the world. Using the warp and weft structures found in textiles and the symmetry of the repeat pattern in wallpaper, she connects people and place by making links between the objects we use as 'place-makers' and the world in which we live.

“My design philosophy is to create work that tells a story with integrity, emotional value and design awareness.”
