Ghostboy aka David Stavanger won the Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup in 2005 and was runner-up in 2007 in the process establishing himself as one of Australia's most innovative spoken word performance artists. He is also QLD's "slammaster" including being the creator /president of performance poetry collective ouTsideRs aRT Inc and coordinating two of the nations biggest slam events in the Australian Poetry Slam (Queensland) & the WordFood slam held at the Woodford Folk Festival. His work has also been widely published in print and on CD, including the release of two poetry books and a spoken word CD. Described as a hybrid of performance poetry, spoken word theatre, and surrealist vaudeville Ghostboy has often performed his work live on ABC & Triple J radio.

In recent years he has been a regular at various festivals both solo and as part of the debauched cabaret act Ghostboy with Golden Virtues including the Brisbane Writers Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Brisbane Cabaret Festival, Byron Bay Writers Festival and NightWords at the Sydney Opera House. As David, he is also the co-editor of QLD's Small Change Press.
