Elleni Toumpas is an emerging music photographer who currently shoots for Tsunami Magazine, Rave Magazine and music website FasterLouder. Elleni has freelanced directly for local and international musicians, with clients including Chris Cornell and Kate Miller Heidke, and has shot as lead photographer for music and arts festivals including LadyFest and the 2007 and 2008 Queensland Poetry Festival. Her work has been published in the Courier Mail, The Daily Telegraph, J Mag, Rolling Stone, Peak Street magazine, Drum Media Perth, Rave and Tsunami to name a few. Elleni participated in the 2008 YAMP program, mentored by Q Weekend photographer Russell Shakespeare. In 2008 she travelled to Los Angeles where she documented the recording of Kate Miller-Heidke's album, Curiouser, and exhibited her first solo exhibition as a result of this body of work.
In 2009 Elleni is collaborating with fellow music photographers, musicians and arts businesses to launch UnderExposed: An Exhibition by Brisbane Music Photographers. The exhibition will launch on the 17th April in the new Fort building, and will hold six gig nights during a three week run, plus also hosting a music photographers symposium to educate and celebrate the work of local music photographers.
Aside from her passion to shoot music, Elleni also dabbles in corporate event and promo photography, with clients including Arts Queensland, the Queensland Writers Centre and nightclubs throughout Brisbane, plus she has shot lifestyle photos for Queensland Homes and Queensland Brides magazines.
