John Mainwaring is Managing Director of JMA Architects Queensland. Formerly of the Sunshine Coast, the practice operates from Brisbane working on projects located from Southern New South Wales to North Queensland. Recently he was appointed to the State Government’s Noosa Iconic Board, to assist in the protection of this region’s environmental assets. Major awards include; the Sir Zelman Cowan award, Robin Boyd Award, Robin Dods Awards, Commercial Award, FDG Stanley Award, the AIA Queensland 25 year award and recently was short listed at the World Architecture Awards in held in Barcelona this year.

JMA is currently working on the $300 million Viridian Resort Village at Noosa Heads, $200 million Kingscliff Resort, $150million Marina Village at Bateman’s Bay and a mixed use precinct at Edge Hill Cairns.

Professional work ranges from Architecture, Interior Design, Urban Design and Heritage work. When time permits, John also assists with tutoring in design at QUT.
